Kerala Teachers Eligibility Test (Kerala-TET) Exam Date Notification

Kerala TET 2024 – Kerala Teacher Eligibility Test will conducting by Government of Kerala for those who plan to be teachers for class I to class VIII, class IX to class X moreover in for Language Teachers – Arabic / Hindi / Sanskrit / Urdu (up to UP classes), Specialist Teachers (Art and Crafts) & Physical Education Teachers in Kerala. Kerala TET 2024 notification will be released by the Government of Kerala, School and Mass Education Department.

As per NCTE All graduates (i.e. B.A, B.Sc., B.Com etc.) are eligible to take the test. TET is a mandatory examination for all the B.Ed. passed candidates to get job as a teacher.  The candidate after satisfying about the eligibility criteria for Kerala TET can apply through Online.

Kerala Teacher Eligibility Test 2024

The Kerala Teacher Eligibility Test shall be conducted annually or as decided by Government according to need.

There shall be four papers in the Kerala TET. Paper I will be for a candidate who want to be teacher for class 1 to 5. Paper II will be for a candidate who want to be teacher for class 6 to 8. Paper III or Category III will be for a candidate who want to be teacher for High School Classes as well as Paper IV or Category IV for a candidate who want to be teacher up to Upper Primary classes.  For Specialist teachers and Physical Education teachers, Kerala TET (KTET) – Category IV is applicable up to High School level. The Candidate who want to be teacher either for category I – Lower Primary classes, category II – Upper Primary classes, category III –  High School classes & category IV – Language teachers, Specialist and Physical Education teachers then they have to appear in examination in the same online application form.

Kerala TET 2024 Eligibility Criteria Kerala Teacher Eligibility Test

The minimum eligibility criteria for category-I (Paper I), category II (Paper II), category III (paper III) and category IV (paper IV) as given below :

Class I to V (Paper I)

12th or equivalent in the marks in aggregate is 45% & two year Trained Teachers Certificate (by whatever name known) conducted by Board of Examination, Govt. of Kerala or its equivalent. Or 12th or equivalent in the marks in aggregate is 45% & pass in or pursuing final year of two year Diploma in Elementary Education. Or 12th or equivalent in the marks in aggregate is 50% & pass in or pursuing final year of four year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.). Or 12th or equivalent in the marks in aggregate is 50% & pass in or pursuing final year of two year Diploma in Education (Special Education).

Note: The qualifying marks relaxation is permitted for Reserved category candidates (i.e. SC / ST / OBC / Differently abled).

Class VI to VIII (Paper II)

Passed B.A. / B.Sc. / B.Com & pass in or pursuing final year of two year Diploma in Elementary Education / Trained Teachers Certificate (by whatever name known) conducted by Board of Examination, Govt. of Kerala or its equivalent. Or Passed B.A. / B.Sc./ B.Com in the marks in aggregate is 45% & pass in or pursuing one year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed) Course. Or 12th or equivalent in the marks in aggregate is 50% & pass in or pursuing final year of four year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) Course. Or 12th or equivalent in the marks in aggregate is 50% & pass in or pursuing final year of four year B.A / B.Sc.Ed or B.A. Ed or B.Sc.Ed Course.

Note: The qualifying marks relaxation is permitted for Reserved category candidates (i.e. SC / ST / OBC / Differently abled).

Teacher for High School Class (Category-III)

Passed B.A. / B.Sc./ B.Com in the marks in aggregate is 45%  and a B.Ed. Degree in the (i) Malayalam (ii) English (iii) Hindi (iv) Sanskrit (v) Tamil (vi) Kannada (vii) Arabic (viii) Urdu (ix) Social Science (x) Physical Science (xi) Natural Science and (xii) Mathematics.

For Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology, those who have MSc.Ed. Degree in the respective subject in the marks in aggregate is 50% from one of the Regional Institutes of Education sponsored by NCERT.

For Botany and Zoology subjects, those with MSc.Ed. Degree in Life Science in the marks in aggregate is 45% from any of the Regional Institutes of Education are eligible to apply.

Applicants, who have Diploma / Degree in teaching in any subject and are approved by Universities/NCTE/Board of Examinations/Govt. of Kerala, are eligible to apply for Kerala TET III. They will have to produce the equivalency certificate as recognized by any of the Universities in Kerala/Government of Kerala.

Note: The qualifying marks relaxation is permitted for Reserved category candidates (i.e. SC / ST / OBC / Differently abled).

Category IV – Language teachers, Specialist and Physical Education Teachers

This test is held for Language teachers in Arabic, Hindi, Sanskrit, Urdu (up to Upper Primary level), Specialist teachers and Physical Education teachers (up to High School level).

* Candidates, who have gain Certificate/ Diploma/ Degree in teaching in any subject, and are approved by Universities /NCTE/ Board of Examinations/ Government of Kerala, are eligible to apply for Kerala TET IV.

The qualifying marks relaxation is permitted for Reserved category candidates (i.e. SC / ST / OBC / Differently abled).

Note: Qualifying the Kerala TET would not confer a right on any person for Recruitment/ Employment as it is only one of eligibility criteria for appointment.

Teacher Eligibility Test  in Kerala 2024 Exam Pattern

The K-TET (Kerala TET) conducted by the Department Pareeksha Bhavan, Kerala as directed by the Government of Kerala. The Exam pattern for this test will furnish below –

  • All the questions will be Multiple Choice Questions.
  • Time Limitation: 2 and 30 hour for each paper.
  • One questions carrying one mark,
  • There will four alternatives out of which one answer will be correct.
  • Questions will be set to assess candidate’s ability to analyze, interpret and apply the subject matter.
  • There will be no negative marking for wrong answers.

Teacher Eligibility Test in Kerala 2024 Syllabus

There will be four categories of Kerala TET

(i) Category I Only for those who eager to be teacher in class 1 to 5.

(ii) Category II Only for those who eager to be teacher in class 6 to 8.

(iii) Category III exam for the purpose of recruitment Secondary school teacher.

(iv) Category IV exam for Language teachers in Arabic, Hindi, Sanskrit, Urdu (up to Upper Primary level), Specialist teachers & Physical Education teachers (up to High School level).

Paper I questions will come from five different subject i.e. Child Development and Pedagogy, Language I (Malayalam / Tamil / Kannada), Language II (English / Arabic), Mathematics & Environmental Studies. Each subject will carry 30 marks.

Same wise Paper II will come from Child Development and Pedagogy, Language I (Malayalam / Tamil / Kannada / English), Language II (Malayalam / English) moreover Mathematics and Science (for Mathematics and Science teacher), Social Studies/Social Science (for Social Studies/Social Science teacher).

Paper III or Category III questions will come from Adolescent Psychology, Theories of Learning and Teaching Aptitude, Language (Malayalam / English / Tamil / Kannada) and Subject specific areas (Content & Pedagogy).

Category IV will come from Child Development, Pedagogy & Teacher Aptitude as well as Language (Malayalam / English / Tamil / Kannada) & Subjects specific paper (Content & Pedagogy).

Kerala TET (Kerala Teacher Eligibility Test) Qualifying Marks

A candidate who scores 60% or more in the TET examination will be considered as TET pass.

Candidates belonging to SC / ST / OBC / Physically Handicapped shall be permitted a relaxation of 5% marks in the minimum qualifying marks.

In accordance with NCTE Guidelines Kerala TET Certificate shall be valid for a period of 7 years from the date of TET examination.

Note: Kerala TET Should give weightage to the  Kerala TET scores in the recruitment process.
